First off, our website has been redesigned! We’ve given the site a major face lift so it has a sleek new look and feel. Go to www.fulltiltpoker.com and check it out for yourselves.

The Phan-tastic Voyage
Posted by One Angry Monkey | Filed under Bloggers Corner
Greetings and salutations to everyone out there in Tilt-land, it’s been a long while since I’ve made a post. The powers that be finally decided to let me out of my cage – let’s just call it some time off for good behavior (plus, the electroshock therapy machine has broken down from overuse).
I write to you today on the heels of the announcement that Full Tilt Poker pro© John “The Razor” Phan has won the Card Player 2008 Player of the Year award. To say that John has been on fire this past year is something of an understatement. He’s had perhaps one of the best years in the history of tournament poker, winning two WSOP bracelets, one WPT title and over $2 million in combined prize money. For those of you counting at home, $2 million is still a lot of money – even with the dollar being at about the same level as the Thai baht – especially if you get paid out in one dollar bills (strip club, here I come!). Coolio ain’t got nothing on John, let’s recap the Phan-tastic voyage that was 2008:
• Mr. Phan-tastic started his great run by making the final table of the WPT Bay 101 Shooting Stars event in March, finishing in 6th place. He also came in 5th at the WPT Bellagio Cup IV in July, adding another final table to his resume.
• But it wasn’t until the WSOP started up that John really caught en fuego. He won two events, thus fulfilling his contractual obligation as a poker player to have at least one article of bling on each wrist (or is that for gangsta rappers only?). John’s first bracelet came in the $3K No-Limit Hold ‘em event, and then one week later took down the $2,500 Deuce-to-Seven Triple Draw Lowball event. Not bad Johnny boy, not bad at all.
• And yet he wasn’t finished with his slicing and dicing (you know, because he’s “The Razor” and all, never mind) of the tournament circuit. The Phan-tastic one decided to finally win one of those damned WPT events, taking down the Legends of Poker tournament in August for more than $1 million (which is approximately equivalent to about 300 Euros).
At this point, I believe it’s accurate to say that John Phan is certainly the hottest player who makes a living playing the pokers these days. And he just might be one of the best as well. So let’s all raise our metaphorical glasses and toast the sharpest poker player out there – this one’s for you John.
If you’d like to learn more about John Phan, please visit his pro site (and no, I’m not just saying that because I have to). And now, it’s time for me to head back to my cage. Merry Christmas, chappy Chanukah, krazy Kwanza and frivolous Festivus to you all…

Million Dollar Cash Game Mania!
Posted by One Angry Monkey | Filed under Bloggers Corner
The Million Dollar Cash Game is taking place right now in London, and our brother in Full Tilt Poker blogging Michael Craig is there now live blogging the action on his Full Tilt Poker Blog. I’d suggest that all you high-stakes poker fans out there go check out Michael’s posts and get a taste of the action for yourselves. I personally enjoyed this post on Phil Ivey basically pwning Mike Matusow’s soul. Poor Mikey, you were running so good during the Series and then this had to happen. We feel for you buddy, but you can’t let Ivey into your head like that.
For those of you who live in Europe, you’ll be able to watch the Million Dollar Cash Game on Sky Sports starting next January, so keep an eye out for that. As for the rest of you, well, this is why YouTube was invented…

Welcome to Poker From The Rail, a poker blog brought to you by Full Tilt Poker. We aim to give our readers the best in poker news, entertainment, pro interviews and somewhat intelligible blogger-iffic rants. We’re also extremely pleased to host Bond18 on his poker quest as he travels Around the World in 90 Days, as well as AlCantHang and his band of Bloggers on the Rail as they dissect the inner-workings of this little game we like to call poker. Al has some great posts from guest bloggers lined up; don’t miss out on this taste of poker blogging at its finest.
This new and improved version of The Rail has a few features that did not exist in our previous incarnation:
- We now have a five-star rating system, so be sure to rate each post that you read.
- You’re also now free to leave a comment about any individual post or the blog as a whole. You don’t have to be nice, but we tend to respond better to constructive criticism. If your comment is too crude or insulting, we will not publish it.
- Our new related posts feature automatically generates a list of related posts at the end of each post. So if you like a post, be sure to check out one of the related posts, you might enjoy that one as well.
- If you do enjoy a post, you can now share it with a friend using Digg, Sphinn, del.icio.us, Facebook, Mixx or Google.
- You can now view the most popular or highest rated posts by looking in the sidebar, as well as find the post you’re looking for by author or category.
This is the new Poker From The Rail, now loading in under five minutes. Enjoy…

Greener Pastures
Posted by Big Donkey | Filed under Bloggers Corner
After more than three and half years of wandering the FTP campus, it’s finally time for this Big Donkey to move on. And no, it’s not because of the daily whippings from our maniacal overlord or the constant braying of my cohorts calling me to the tables in soft $3-$6 games all over the Strip. My tenure here has simply run its course. C’est la vie.

What’s up Pokerland? Unfortunately, due to time constraints, I will not be able to post a Heads Up piece today. I know, I know, this is very horrible news – please dry your eyes. So in lieu of having a massive heads-up battle to look forward to, I just wanted all of our faithful readers to know that we’ve added a new section to the blog called Bloggers On The Rail.
Spearheaded by world famous (infamous?) blogger AlCantHang, Bloggers On The Rail will be keeping everyone up to date on what’s happening in the world of poker blogging and will include posts from a variety of different guest bloggers. So please, please, please go check it out. We just got it up and running earlier this week, but there’s already a few great posts to read from Al. Let’s put it this way: if you’re a fan of poker blogs, this is can’t miss stuff.
That’s all for now people. We’ll be back with another “real” post tomorrow. Have a great day…

FTOPS and More
Posted by One Angry Monkey | Filed under Bloggers Corner
We usually have a blogger-iffic rant to present to you every Friday, but I’m really not in a ranting kind of mood today. Instead, I feel like it’s been a while since we’ve really clued you all in to what’s going around here at Full Tilt Poker. Blame the WSOP, blame Tiffany Michelle’s breasts, blame us for not doing our jobs properly. Hell, blame Canada if you want. Whatever the case may be, you guys deserve better. So here’s a quick rundown of what’s going on around these parts, plus a little teaser of great things to come:

Tuscaloosa John – WSOP Blogger On The Rail – Post 2
Posted by The Captain | Filed under Bloggers Corner
As our man on the ground, Tuscaloosa John’s coverage of the events in Vegas surrounding the 2008 WSOP continues:
Friday, 11/07/08, 10 pm
Hand for hand play lasted an eternity Thursday at the Rio. I’m sure it seemed that way for the short-stacked participants, at least. The most amazing story was that of Argentinean Fernando Gordo, or more accurately his stack. Gordo did not show up Thursday to play his 140,000 stack and was blinded off as the day progressed. When the money bubble burst his stack was still alive, but down to 1,500. That stack earned him $21,230.

Tuscaloosa John – WSOP Blogger On The Rail – Post 1
Posted by The Captain | Filed under Bloggers Corner
At long last, the time has come for a dispatch from our man on the ground in Sin City. For those of you just joining us, Tuscaloosa John was the blogger who claimed victory in the Battle of the Bloggers Write Your Way to the 2008 WSOP competition last month. Since then, he’s spent several weeks in Vegas taking in the scene and playing in various tournaments.
As of the beginning of the Main Event, he’s been keeping tabs on the action as he’s experienced it first-hand – and here it is:
